Pinteresting Update

So you know how a few weeks ago I was musing about Pinterest & not getting excited about it?

Well...

...I got excited about it!

I've been thinking maybe I could maintain the blog better if I got rid of some other "clutter." I'm thinking about just following all the bloggers I follow on Twitter on their actual blogs...

(duh)

...& then deleting the Twitter account.

(or at least giving notice of its abandonment)

I'm not the greatest at maintaining my (personal, private) Facebook account, but I do it just to keep in touch with those I wouldn't otherwise easily keep in touch with.

So if I could stay relatively current on

blogs,
Facebook,
& Pinterest...

...I'd feel "connected" enough, I think. More so than I have been, anyway! LOL

(& I'm behind on email, as usual...)

So tell me, how do *YOU* maintain your social networking?

(while presumably having a "real life")

& do you keep your blogger identity separate from your personal contacts?

Happy (long!) Weekend!

What I Want This Weekend, February 3rd, 2012

Here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

I'd probably wear this with a black sleeveless top underneath it. With all of the constant weather changes this year, lightweight layering is pretty much the best way to go!

(& I never even heard whether that groundhog saw his shadow...)

So cute for a Valentine's Day statement, but perfectly classic for anytime, too!

Pink&Green Paper Butterflies Wall Decor by Simply Chic Lily

Pretty Little Bare Feet's bedroom is mostly gender-neutral - which is good, because one day we (may) let her & My Little Man share it. There are lots of touches of femininity, though, such as the pink minky glider rocker & ottoman, & several pieces of ballerina art on the walls. Pretty Little Bare Feet herself gets more&more girly every day, & I know she'd be fascinated by these 3D butterflies on her bedroom walls. They could also be used as beautiful decor for a party!

Bobbi Brown, one of my favorites, co-designed this limited edition scarf with Echo Design (known for their fabulous scarves). Sales from the scarf benefit the organization Dress for Success, & what I really love is that they are straightforward about how much actually goes to the nonprofit - $20 for each scarf, which is a pretty generous donation! Read more about it here.

(Also, it's just a really, really cute scarf that would effortlessly add style to basics.)

Colorful Plush Alphabet Magnets by Beeper Bebe

I know all of y'all fellow mamas probably have the obligatory alphabet magnets. & some of you are probably in the same boat that I'm in - your preschooler has completely taken over the refrigerator door, & you're only left with the freezer door! ;)

(Okay, & I admit that I use some of the side of the refrigerator, too - hey, we get a lot of really cute invitations & photos, & the memo board on the pantry door can only hold so much!)

But I think such priceless works of art should be complemented by stinkin' cute magnets like this set, rather than the little primary-colored plastic ones, right?!

What I Want This Weekend, October 21st, 2011

I know. I intended to participate in Pink&Green Thursday yesterday.

But it's been a long time since I've been a daily or near-daily blogger;
& even though I thought about it several times throughout the day,
I ultimately forgot.

I also had a mini panic attack yesterday when two random strangers commented on photos on my Facebook - since I have always had all of my photos set to "friends only."

(Guess what? In case you are not aware, Facebook's newest set of anti-privacy privacy settings automatically negates whatever YOUR settings are as soon as you "check in" to a location - which I've never done! - or tag a person. Once that has been done, your post goes on the public page for that location &/or allows ALL "friends of friends" of anybody you tag - which could be strangers OR people you know but AREN'T friends with for some reason! - to view & comment on YOUR photos. Also, anybody you are friends with has the ability to "share" your photos on THEIR walls with THEIR friends at any time. So, in short, it does not matter how tight your privacy settings are set - they will be overridden as soon as you check in or tag a friend...or a friend that does not honor the same privacy desires you have can share your photos if they choose. Lovely, huh? I swear if it weren't for all the shopping I do for my children on Facebook, I'd just get everybody's contact info & deactivate the thing. Grrr. End rant.)

Here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

What, you haven't worn Roxy since the tenth grade either? ;) Well, somebody told my mama the other day that I didn't look a day over twenty.

(I used to always get "teenager" comments, I think maybe because I'm only 5'1; but hey, I'm only three months out from having a second child, so I will gladly take twenty! I'm twenty-eight, for the record!)

Besides, I think Roxy looks decidedly less juvenile than I had thought that they did. & I'm pretty sure true fashionistas don't care what the tag on the inside says, or so the fashion editors would have you believe.

(Though I am admittedly very brand-conscious - not for "status" reasons, just out of sheer loyalty to the lines that are excellent quality, consistently match my style, & fit me best.)

Anyway, if it all of a sudden got quite brrr! this week where you live, I'm sure you've been moving your sweaters to the front of your wardrobe, as well. ;)

I need a new "everyday" watch.

I want that one! ;)

For Pretty Little Bare Feet's first Halloween, I bought her a tutu witch Halloween trick-or-treat bag from an Etsy shop.

But I had a harder time finding something boy-oriented for My Little Man's first Halloween...until I found this adorable tote at Pottery Barn Kids - & it's super on sale! & with free shipping, the total was still less than the original price - even after adding personalization!

Another thing I need...it's time to replace my old trusty Ugg loafers/moccasins.

&...I want these ones!

(LOL...I feel like Pretty Little Bare Feet when she says, "Ummm, I want...that one!")

...& what's #1 on my Lilly Pulitzer lust list?

Eryn Dress in Chorus Girl by Lilly Pulitzer

This gorgeous dress, that could take me from

the ballet,
to church,
to a football game!
(We SEC girls do like to dress up nicely for those...)

Pretty sure it might be the perfect cut for a petite mama-of-a-three-month-old who still has something between about two&eight pounds left to lose.

(Seriously, depending on the day & the time of day...)

What I Want This Weekend, July 22nd, 2011

So here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

I'd buy this pillow for Pretty Little Bare Feet's bed...

...but I wouldn't necessarily object to it getting left in our living room either. ;)

How do y'all feel about high-rise jeans? I love skinny jeans for fall because they are great with boots&sweaters. But I haven't really tried high-rise cuts.

Just a couple more weeks to go before I can start running again, & thus allow myself to check the scale again. I was able to lose the baby weight after having Pretty Little Bare Feet, most within two or three months, all within five months...

...Anyway, I have a couple pairs of J Brand jeans, & they are some of my favorites, but I have completely worn out one pair (the shoreman sailor jeans) because they button in a way that allowed me to wear them when I was in that transition period between my normal size & maternity clothes (during both pregnancies!). So I think a new pair of J Brand jeans will be a nice reward for myself after I get back to getting in shape this fall.

Love everything about this top.

The color,
the drapey fit,
the embroidery.

& Nanette Lepore is one of my favorite designers, especially for tops. They always fit comfortably & look nice.

Bowen Dress in Perfect Afternoon by Lilly Pulitzer

I think this is my favorite dress that I didn't get to buy/wear this summer of being pregnant/postpartum. I think I'll keep an eye out for it to go on sale someplace...

Nice Stems! Collection by OPI

While my toenails are freshly painted...

(Pretty Little Bare Feet's, too! - we had a spa date last weekend!)

...lately I haven't been able to visit my friends at the local salon that I get all of my (current) OPI nail lacquers from. I just love this summer's little mini-collection, though, especially I Lily Love You (light pink sparkle) & Come to Poppy (shimmering coral-pink).

What I Want This Weekend, May 13th, 2011

Here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

Little Ugly Groody by Uglydoll

Do any of y'all mamas have any Uglydolls for your little ones?

Pretty Little Bare Feet received the one above from one of her favorite little nursery school classmates for her birthday this year. She absolutely adores the silly thing, & I have to admit that it has kind of grown on me.

After speaking to friends with toddlers, who have recently added newborns to their families, My Prince & I have been trying to ready ourselves for the big transition that Pretty Little Bare Feet is going to be making soon as she becomes a big sister. One idea that has been floated around is the idea of letting the older child pick out a special gift to give to the new baby.

I had already been thinking that maybe since Pretty Little Bare Feet only has one of the "Little Uglys," she might be excited about acquiring a new, bigger Classic Uglydoll for herself. I've been putting together a little "bag of fun" for our trip to the hospital, full of little surprises to be pulled out in instances of waiting room boredom, or just to distract from all of the unfamiliar disruptions to Pretty Little Bare Feet's little toddler world.

Then it occurred to me that maybe I could

take away the "surprise" element of this particular little gift,
allow Pretty Little Bare Feet to pick out her own new Uglydoll,
& also let her pick out a new Little Ugly to give to her baby brother.

Then we could sort of make the "bigger" Uglydoll a "big sibling" to the new Little Ugly...

I have been longing for Lilly throughout this entire pregnancy, pretty much from the moment I no longer felt comfortable in my favorite Lilly dresses&polos. Although I am still able to wear some of my Lilly pajamas, I've been having to make do with shopping for Lilly stationery & that sort of thing.

(& of course the occasional Minnie item for Pretty Little Bare Feet.)

Anyway, just a few more months (assuming, of course, I work my tail off to lose the baby weight as quickly as I did before...& that is what I intend!) before I can dress myself in my normal wardrobe again - & add to it!

Until that time, though, the #1 item on my summer Lilly must-have list is this cooler. I intend to spend some time at both our country club & neighborhood pools with Pretty Little Bare Feet, who can pretty safely splash around in the "kiddie pools" under my watchful eye, while I keep my other watchful eye on a newborn. Therefore, it will be necessary to ensure we are properly equipped with the perfect

beach bag,
beach towels,
cooler,
magazines,
water bottles,
etc.

I also already have the perfect Lilly caftan to cover my postpartum mama bod, & I just received a big, floppy hat in a delightful bright coral as a gift that will also be well-loved this summer.

Pretty Little Bare Feet has thus far only snagged this one new bathing suit for herself, but now that most everybody has gotten their summer lines out, I'm sure it'll be no time before we add a few more to her current swimwear rotation.

Love Fornash. Pretty much everything. & I would love to add to my Fornash bangle&bracelet collection with one of these with the new horse bit detail. Sooo classically chic!

I know, we've already covered the annoying fact that I can't yet wear my normal-sized clothing, & it would just be silly to get this & stare at it for months, waiting until I can wear it. But I've always had a thing for open shoulder tops, & I can't get this one out of my head!

...& while backtracking to find that fabulous top to share with y'all, I happened upon this fantastic dress - my favorite maxi dress I've seen this year! & I wore a non-maternity maxi dress by Gypsy 05 just tonight...so this actually feels within the realm of not-too-far-off possibility! ;)

What I Want This Weekend, Black Friday Edition 2010

Here are some pretty *bargains* I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that are/were worth getting up & going shopping at 6am for...

(I was mostly Black Friday deal-hunting for Christmas&Birthday gifts for Pretty Little Bare Feet, but I did spy some things I desired for myself, too! It's inevitable!)

Barbie Pink Doll Set at Kohl's

Since My Prince's gift to Pretty Little Bare Feet this Christmas is a Grand Balcony dollhouse by Step2, which is suited for Barbie dolls, my goal for Black Friday shopping this year was to find some Barbie dolls at fabulous prices.

(It was super sweet of My Prince to choose this for her, since he redeemed a bazillion credit card points for it...& believe me, he could have easily chosen some pretty cool stuff for himself instead! We sort of started a tradition last year, that each of us gets Pretty Little Bare Feet one gift from "Daddy" & one gift from "Mommy." Then everything else comes from "Santa Claus." Last year I gave her her first pair of shoes - Erin baby sheepskin boots by Ugg! - & My Prince gave her a teddy bear wearing a University of Alabama sweater. This year my gift for her is a My Own Leaptop in purple by LeapFrog - to encourage her to play with her "own laptop" instead of my pink MacBook. ;))

Anyway, I got the very last one of those pink doll sets at the Kohl's my mama & I went to first thing this morning. Kohl's opened at 3am, which is ungodly even for those of us seasoned Black Friday earlybirds. Since we're traveling this year, & Pretty Little Bare Feet is having a hard time adjusting to sleeping in a different place, we didn't make it to Kohl's when the doors opened. We did get out at 6am, though, & we were able to hit about five different places & still get back (with breakfast for My Prince & Pretty Little Bare Feet!) by about 9am.

Some other little Christmas gifts I (Santa) picked up at Kohl's this morning, all at fifty percent off:

Barbie Fashionistas Sweetie Doll

Enchanted Nursery Beach Time Snow White

(These are too cute! Ours has red sunglasses on, though...)

My Little Pony Rainbow Dash

My Little Pony Cheerilee

& there were just a few other Black Friday deals I spotted, at several other stores, that piqued my interest:

My Prince & I discussed recently that as sad as it is to admit, we would play our Wii more often if we had more games that didn't require us to, um, get up & sweat. ;) So after expressing to one another a desire to expand our Wii game collection, as well as letting my mama know about our "need," we are hoping to find a new Wii game or two in the grownups' stockings this year.

(& I *was* a devoted Mario Brothers player back in my youth. ;))

Professional 600 Stand Mixer in Nickle Pearl by KitchenAid at Kohl's

As loyal as my hand mixer has been to me all these years, the last few times I have baked, I have longed for a big, bad stand mixer. The price on these at Kohl's today was unbelievable, but I certainly had not discussed bringing back such a big purchase with My Prince before embarking on my Black Friday mission.

(& my mama & I were in such a state trying to leave quickly&quietly in the dark, without waking anybody else up, neither one of us remembered our cell phones! So there was no calling to plead with him about the great deal either! =()

Logo Pillows by Lauren Ralph Lauren Bedding at Macy's

My very favorite pillows (& sheets, for that matter) are by Lauren Ralph Lauren bedding. I have this big huge body pillow by Lauren Ralph Lauren, that I've had since college, & it was fantastic when I was pregnant with Pretty Little Bare Feet. I still sleep with it most nights. & it's amazing how now that my pillows are all such good quality, I often don't even need more than one!

(I used to be convinced that I needed about five or six just for me!)

Cashmere Crewneck Sweater in Fuchsia Pink by Nicole by Nicole Miller at JCPenney

Because this girl can just never have enough cashmere sweaters. Or pink. ;)

(I may have also picked up the Katy Perry CD for fifty percent off at Borders. What can I say? Y'all know she's a guilty pleasure of mine! =))

What I Want This Weekend, November 12th, 2010

Here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from some blog
or catalog
or friend
or magazine
or another;
or just from my own browsing&shopping&surfing,

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

Drapey Sequin Tee in Dark Pewter by J. Crew

During one of my recent closet clean-outs (which I routinely do a couple times a year), I am quite certain I got rid of a pink sequin tank, determining it inappropriate for my vision of a posh mama wardrobe.

(Although I did just hear a week or two ago that I look nineteen! Woohoo!)

However, I think the color&cut on this chic little J. Crew top make it ideal for a number of upcoming occasions this mama may find herself attending. & it looks comfortable!

>

Diagonal Ribbed Trouser Socks in Black by J. Crew

& when I am in a J. Crew store, I always end up adding at least a pair or two of socks to my purchases.

For years I have been devoted to J. Crew socks. I don't know what it is about them, but they are so comfortable & are of such good quality that they can endure multiple launderings without showing wear. So they always end up being my favorite socks. Aside from a few "around-the-house" fuzzy lounging socks, my sock drawer is almost exclusively filled with J. Crew socks. & if you shop in store, they are almost always on some kind of promotion.

(Buy two pairs & get a third half off, or something to that effect...)

Try them if you haven't - I bet your feet will become loyal, too!

>

Okay, so technically we already bought this. But how excited am I that I found this before our upcoming road trip over the Thanksgiving holiday? We're going to be in a vehicle for a looong time. Although Pretty Little Bare Feet has been a pretty good traveler on the last few road trips we've taken, they've been relatively short trips in comparison to the next one we're going on.

(I am not a big fan of televisions in vehicles, but I think they bother me most when they are used on those everyday mundane commutes to&from school - you know, when I feel like it would be an ideal time for conversation. Plus I grew up reading books on road trips & generally entertaining myself just fine without a television in our vehicle. However, it has been pointed out to me by an acquaintance of mine that when we were children, we weren't strapped in to carseats for nearly as long, nor were we confined to booster seats for years after that. That being the case, I did relent & allow for a portable DVD player to accompany us on our trip to Orlando last summer, & it was used moderately&successfully enough that I am open to bringing one on longer trips in the future.)

Anyway, I'm all for new ideas to keep a toddler content to ride in a vehicle. I am really excited about this lap desk because Pretty Little Bare Feet seems to prefer coloring (or scribbling with anything, really) to most any other activity right now. & she also seems to prefer blank pages to coloring in coloring books. So I have high hopes that this lap desk will entertain Pretty Little Bare Feet when she's in her carseat for longer periods of time.

Oh, & the most exciting part of all?! Those markers will only write on the special kind of paper that comes in the tablet with the lap desk. So no mess all over everything (& everybody) else in the vehicle!

Last Dance Silver Chains&Pearls Necklace by Alex Keller

Those of you that have been reading my blog for a long time (or that know me) may have noticed that I am pretty particular (one might even say boring) when it comes to jewelry. It's just not an area in which I often follow trends or take risks. I like my jewelry relatively

classic,
delicate,
simple,
small...

...& I prefer to have a few pieces of the "real thing" from, say, Tiffany&Co.; rather than an overflowing box of trendy trinkets of fashion jewelry.

(Or at least I *think* that's what they call it these days.)

Not that I have an aversion to fashion jewelry - I am just not as interested in jewelry as I am in other areas of my wardrobe, so I don't pay as much attention to it (or shop for it as often) as I do to other things. But I do have an appreciation for anybody that has a great eye for how to inexpensively accessorize with fun, playful jewelry!

That being said, when I do come across a piece I really like, I usually wear it to death. This is often because the pieces I'm drawn to are very much pieces you can wear with pretty much anything.

This necklace is one of those pieces. I think it would be fabulous with jeans & a simple white crewneck sweater. & equally fabulous with a little black cocktail dress. & the price is unbelievable!

Double-Cloth Salon Coat in Dark Plum by J. Crew

Okay, I really didn't mean to go back to J. Crew again in this post.

But the weather has finally been turning cold, rather than just cooling off.

(At least on some days.)

& this coat may be my favorite that I have come across recently.

Feminine, yet polished. Flattering cut. & that dark plum color is a perfect everyday alternative to black or tan.

What I Want This Weekend, QVC?! Edition 2010

Here are some pretty things I've come across this week,

from QVC

(Yes, really!)

that I need to convince My Prince to dole out the cash for...

So let's be honest, y'all. Do any of you ever shop from QVC?

(I have to admit that I used to turn my nose up at it a bit.)

But I do remember that back when I was a little girl, my mama used to order Christmas ornaments, & some of the toys for my Christmas gifts, from QVC. & I do remember getting some pretty cute stuff!

(I specifically recall a little Hello Kitty playset with a little swan carriage, that I have never been able to find anyplace again. Isn't it funny how you all of a sudden remember the most random childhood toys, once you have a child of your own to buy them for? & of course my mama swears I never played with it anymore, & thus there was no reason to keep it, much like my justification for when I de-clutter Pretty Little Bare Feet's toy collection. Ooo, there was also this little Sesame Street train set...)

That was back in the day when you would actually watch QVC on television to see what they were selling, then call in & place an order with an operator. How time-consuming that seems in our click-click-click world of today!

(Okay, so I am about to admit that I am no longer ashamed to say I occasionally order from QVC, but are any of y'all actually guilty of *watching* QVC? 'Fess up! ;))

The first time I ordered from QVC - you know, as an adult who professes to have good taste - was last Christmas. I had been telling my mama that I wanted to order the American Girl "Girl of the Year" doll for Pretty Little Bare Feet's first Christmas.

Now I know that y'all are all shaking your heads at what an imbecile first-time mama I was to buy my not-even-one-year-old (at the time) daughter an American Girl doll. But you know what? There are only a handful of Christmases that are going to go by when I am pretty much allowed to buy whatever Christmas gifts I please, without any consideration to requests for Santa Claus that I don't understand or actually desire to fill. Pretty Little Bare Feet got plenty of other age-appropriate gifts. & I figure in a few years, she's going to be wanting an American Girl doll, & I like to think it will be special that she'll have the one that was "born" the very same year that she was!

(Pretty Little Bare Feet w/ her American Girl & her granny, Christmas 2009)

(& in fact she absolutely adored the doll & was very gentle with it all day Christmas day, before I put it up in her playroom to be brought back down for real play in a couple years. She just loves all of her little baby dolls right now, especially some of my old Cabbage Patch Babies from when I was a little girl. I think we may get her one of the American Girl Bitty Babies for Christmas this year, or for her second birthday in January. Any mamas out there have any experience with giving these to the "under three" set that they aren't "recommended" for? Pretty Little Bare Feet is actually calm&gentle with most of her books&toys, most of the time, & she hasn't put any "choking hazards" in her mouth for months. So we've kind of just started buying toys based on her interest level, rather than on the "lawsuit prevention age recommendation." Or at least that's what I see it as. ;))

(Chrissa, American Girl of the Year 2009)

Anyway, so my mama (surprise, surprise) "flipped by" QVC one fall afternoon last year, & she happened to notice that they were doing a special collection with the American Girl of the Year, including

doll,
accessories,
books,
outfits,
etc.

at a pretty great price.

(Now my mama swears she only "flips by" QVC these days, but she had good experiences shopping from them for years. Still, flipping by the channel long enough to actually stop & see what is being featured...Well, that is certainly more than I am doing, so I was grateful she spotted this special event, since I probably would not have otherwise been aware of it.)

Well, a funny thing often happens when you order something online, as most of you savvy internet shoppers can probably testify. You supply your email address for the order information, & then ding!, you've got mail! Half the time, whether or not you check the box requesting the email updates, you start getting the emails anyway, at least until you unsubscribe yourself.

(I happen to have an old email address that is primarily used for just this type of email, but I do try to check it & clean it out several times a week...& I am pretty careful about only continuing to receive emails that are worth checking.)

It annoys My Prince to no end that I occasionally just put down his email address when I order something online. He seems to think that this is some sneaky tactic of mine to get "hints" sent to his email address, but honestly I am just being lazy. It saves me the steps of opening up a "receipt" email & then forwarding it to the man who balances the checkbook. I figure that's one less email that I have to check&forward; & I honestly forget that sometimes despite my attention to unchecking the box requesting the emails, future emails may get sent to him anyway.

& so it happened that a couple months after we ordered the beautiful little American Girl of the Year collection last year, My Prince started getting emails from QVC. At first he deleted them with all of his other unopened emails that go straight to the trash. He figures it's faster to periodically delete them all, rather than going through the process of unsubscribing. Besides, the QVC emails aren't the invasive kind of retailer emails, where you feel like you get about ten a day.

(I'm looking at *you,* Victoria's Secret, whom I never even order from anymore!)

Then a funny thing happened. I decided I was pretty much done with Ulta (at least with our local one - I have had good experiences at other locations!), which meant ordering my beloved Philosophy bubble baths from an online retailer.

(Or waiting until I was someplace that actually had a decent selection to choose from, & stocking up on a surplus amount to keep on hand.)

After I had bemoaned my third or fourth awful experience at Ulta, My Prince happened to notice that the subject line of one of the QVC emails he was about to delete actually featured Philosophy products. & ever since that day, unless there is a special limited edition at Sephora or someplace, we've been replenishing my Philosophy bubble bath supply from QVC. As well as my Philosophy

etc.

(& the bubble baths I am referring to are really the 3-in-1 products, but I only use them for bubble bath. Unless I am traveling, in which case I will save space by also using it for a shampoo &/or shower gel...& it multitasks fine when I do that, too! Anyway, I could do a whole post on all of the products I love from Philosophy, but I am supposed to be posting about QVC...)

So then I started just plain old browsing the website whenever I was placing a Philosophy order, & I'd occasionally find a great deal on a gift for a child or something. Then I'd see something & think, "Oh, wow, I didn't know they carried that brand. I need to remember that."

& then I realize one day that I've actually sort of become a QVC shopper.

At first I am a bit horrified, as this is not the first area in which I've feared, "I'm becoming my mama."

(Not that that's a bad thing, as my mama is a lovely lady, but y'all know what I mean...how it sneaks up on you that you're not only becoming increasingly more domestic, your tastes are maturing in a manner that is more Martha Stewart - like your mama - than Urban Outfitters, like your hipper, younger downtown-dwelling friends. *Is* Urban Outfitters still hip, by the way?)

But then I realize, hey, what if there are others out there that haven't given QVC a chance because it makes them think of cat ladies...or old ladies...

(Not that my mama is either one, & she certainly wasn't when she actually ordered from QVC with regularity. But let's be honest, most of the callers that call in to those home shopping programs sound like my sweet old cat lady next-door neighbor, who is perfectly precious, but whose style I most certainly do not aspire to emulate.)

After I mentioned QVC a time or two at playgroup, I discovered that at least a couple of my momfriends were also quietly doing some QVC shopping. & they wore almost sheepish looks when they 'fessed up to giving in to a handbag deal or trying a new makeup brand. But what are we ashamed of, y'all? We brag about our Target finds, right? Well, QVC is absolutely worthy of that same kind of "OMG, look what I found! At QVC, of all places!" enthusiasm.

So although I will not go so far as to say that QVC is, in&of itself, a go-to place for all things fabulous; I do believe that you can find some unexpectedly fabulous goodies for yourself, & maybe even some preppy looks. Or get a jump-start on this year's Christmas shopping.

(Unless you're my mama, who began Christmas shopping for 2010 on December 26th, 2009.)
